Some of the best memories of my childhood are from my grandparents farm. It is the most beautiful, peaceful and fun place to be. My grandparents have always held a special place in my heart...there is no one quite like them! I used to go to the fields with my grandfather and count the cows to make sure they were all there, pick wildflowers in the fields, swing on vines of overgrown trees, fish, take rides on the four wheeler and tractor...so many simple things..yet so much fun! I loved spending days with them as a child and I still do!
This past weekend my mom kept Landon and Kendall for us so we could have some time with each other and rest. So much has happened so fast...sometimes we feel like we are just trying to keep our heads above the water. While they were at mimi's they got to spend some extra special time with my grandfather...their papa. He showed them all around the garden and let them pick some green beans...okra...tomatoes...and watermelon. They were so excited! Then they drove down to the river that runs thru the property to see the wild hogs...yes, wild hogs...my 87 year old grandfather has set traps to catch them. We don't know where they came from! He showed them how he set the trap and other interesting facts. Then they swung on some old tree vines and climbed around on huge tree limbs that were laying around....all the things we used to do with him as kids. After all that excitment he took them to his friends farm and showed them so actual wild hogs...honey bees...and wild turkeys. They had so much to tell us when they got home!
I am so grateful that they get to spend time with my grandfather and make so many fun memories. It also makes me sad that Harper will never have the chance to know how wonderful her great grandparents are. Its hard to not think of all of the little things she never had the chance to do.
