Mad Scientist....Party!

Landon is turning 7!!!!! I can't even believe that he is going to be 7....time really does fly by when your having fun! We decided to have a mad scientist party......which was perfect considering the fact that Dave is a science teacher...I knew he would come in handy someday :) I was even more excited that we didn't have to do another Star War's Party....yay! Here are some pictures from the party.....

Food for the mad scientist....they need their energy! We grilled hotdogs and had chips and juice boxes in mad scientist bags. I got the bags at hobby lobby and decorated them with scientist stickers from oriental trading.
Volcano birthday cake....it was really easy to make. I got the recipe from Sandra Lee off of foodnetwork. It errupted while we were singing happy birthday (dry ice from publix). The kids also made homemade ice cream in ziplock bags with rock salt and ice.

One of the experiments....baking soda vinegar...this erupts and is fun for the kids to watch....it makes a pasty salt afterwards.

Diet coke and mentos....so much fun! They did this one twice...drop a pack of mentos into a 2 liter of diet coke and move away quickly!!! We also made bouncy balls with glue and put alka seltzer's in film canisters and watched the tops blow off!

I made Landon a shirt (supplies from Hobby Lobby).

Mad Science family!

Landon with his Mimi....We could never pull everything off without Mimi!!!!

Deocrations for the mailbox....we had to let the Scientist know where the lab was!

Thanks for letting me use the cricut...Tara and Farah! The banner said Scientist at Work.

Test Tubes with nerds....from oriental trading....each kid got one in their goody bag.

More goodies....magnifying glass, (dollar tree, pack of 4)...picture frames...science stickers...rubix cube..grow capsules...pop it's...and a microscope. We put everything in recyable bags, (target $1 section).

Lab coats for all the little scientists...I got them from the thrift store ($1) and cut the sleeves off...I sewed an easy hemn and ironed on their names (supplies from hobby lobby). I hung them on the mantle and when the kids arrived they got their coat and a quick picture with the birthday boy...I took the picture and put it in their frame as part of their goody bag.
We had a great day and hopefully all the little scientists did too! What will we do next year.....hmmmm?
