The 4th of July was very different for us this year...we usually take the kids to a parade and enjoy as many festivities as we can, topped off with a fireworks show. My grandad served our country and we have many friends that have and still are currently serving.
This year also would have been Joe (my stepdads) 70th birthday. Thankfully my mom came down for the weekend....she came to help Dave with the kids and help take care of me. I am glad that we got to spend the weekend with her...we usually spend time with her every holiday especially since Joe's passing. She is such a strong woman and I am so proud of her...she always manages to move forward and thrive.
With me on bed rest (going on week 4) everything has been off schedule and harder for Dave....this weekend things got a little harder. Kendall woke us up early Friday morning with a high fever. She got in bed next to me and I put a cold rag on her head and tried to cool her down in addition to the medicine. However, it never really went down...our doctors office was closed b/c it was the 3rd? I still don't really get it...they are a doctors office! Dave had to take her to urgent care where they did a strep test that came back positive, he filled the prescription right away...the fever wouldn't go down and she couldn't talk, play, and became lothargic. By the time my mom got there she had gotten even worse. We finally decied to call the doctor on call and she told us to take her to Scottish Rite in Atlanta b/c it def. wasn't normal. My mom and Dave loaded her up and got there about 10:00...I was very nervous but b/c I am on bed rest I couldn't go and Landon was sleeping. They found out that she had the croup and strep throat which is why her fever was 103 -104. They gave her breathing treatments and steroids on top of her prescription. She was in so much pain and completly not herself. We were all pretty shaken up. They didn't get home until 2:00 am.
Thankfully today she is feeling a little better and starting to perk up. They told us that it would probably be about a week before she felt comp. better.
With all of this going on Dave managed to let Landon do sparklers and sit outside with him to watch the fireworks...such a wonderful Daddy. We are so fortunate that my mom is so WONDERFUL! She has helped and is more appreciated than she will probably ever know!
